The Perfect Getaway!

What are you up to these hot summer days?

I just traveled to an even hotter destination than the one I’m currently in. But it was every bit worth it. Now I know Kerala is known to be God’s own country but literally it is! Err ma gawd it’s breathtakingly beautiful. I’m just so blessed to have even gotten this opportunity, much thanks to Shanice. You probably know her from My Birthday Blog ! post. You know… my soul sister but now I feel like the trophy sister, haahahaha.

Anyway… get yourself some popcorn or chips, a coke, a juice – whatever you like. This is going to be a long one! (Also … Question of the day – do any of you call snakes ‘long ones’ ? PLEASE LET ME KNOW!)

Right from the time Shanice told me about this trip till I reached the hotel, I had absolutely no clue of what to expect. I just knew, I was going to Kerala and staying at the Taj. So I knew it would be great but I mean… This was next level. As we pulled into the property, we were greeted with chilled coconut water and a scenery that could take your breath away.

We were then escorted to our rooms, actually… scratch that. We were then escorted to our gorgeous little house with a front porch and a pond! I’m just sad I didn’t get a picture of the bathroom area for you guys. It was pretty though. Right next to the shower was an outdoorsy type area covered in pebbles.

I’m absolutely in love with this place. It’s the most peaceful, calm, serene getaway location ever. You’ll hear the sound of birds throughout your stay as they share borders with a bird sanctuary. Also no matter what time of year you visit, there’ll be something to do. From pottery to cycle tours or just a ride around the property, boating in their private pond. Or a boat ride into the backwaters, rappelling, swimming you name it!

I fell in love even with the tea time snacks. I kid you not, after eating this banana fritter I ate at least about 5 more throughout my stay in Kerala.

I’m in love with this!

Best time time snacks ever. With a cup of filter coffee – Yaaaas!

Some tea time trivia for you.

So tea time starts at 4:00pm and ends at 5:00pm followed by a boat ride. I was obsessed with taking pictures everywhere! In fact, before coming to Kerala, I randomly messaged Shanice saying I want a yellow wall to take pictures in front of! To which she said, oh don’t worry… You’ll find plenty in Kerala. Girl! Was she right. And my favourite was this tiny storage unit right where Chayakada was served. So you can only guess how we passed our time. Besides the chats we never seem to run out of, lol!

Straight out of a story book, or what? And not only the place and the pictures. The people are so lovely. Everyone! Just such kind, genuine, helpful, chatty people. The Helmsman (if I can call him that) offered to take our pictures – he also asked us to move about to get the perfect shot! Hahaaha… it was the cutest thing. The guide with us from the hotel was telling us about the floods and how the water was up to their waist at the Taj. Everyone was relocated to their Coachin property. He was telling us to go for a walk at 6:00am to the bird sanctuary next door to which we were slightly apprehensive. Then he was like this is not Mumbai or Delhi, Kerala is very safe.

After that extremely relaxing boat trip, we went for an early dinner, while live folk music was playing. Then stayed for a couple minutes to watch the folk dancer before we called it a night.

I would totally recommend staying at the Taj Kumarakom for a special occasion or even just a relaxing getaway. Although a little more on the pricey side depending on what you want, I felt that they really got everything SO right. They were extremely accommodating and their customer service and attention to detail was spot on. They made our special stay feel so special and everybody was friendly and very helpful.

I think that’s enough for one blog post, I’ll do day 2 in another. Hope you enjoyed reading this. Do share it with your friends or family planning a trip and make sure to give it a like.

TOP 3 PLACES TO EAT AT IN GOA

Hello again,

Don’t want to jinx it but I think this is going to be the year in which you’re going to hear so much from me, you’re going to be bored to tears! A.K.A the year in which I’m actually going to post as much as I should have all these years.

Hope you liked my previous post on my Goa outfits. If you haven’t read it yet, here’s the link, go check it out and come back (: GOA 2019 LOOKBOOK .

Now, on to my 3 favourite places to eat at in Goa.

DISCLAIMER: This is strictly a food review. Which means I’m not going to write about the ambiance, the service or anything else that might add to a great experience. Don’t expect me to anyway. If I add extras in there, take it with a smile. AND LIKE MY POST!

Carry on now… 😀

1. The Black Sheep Bistro : Zomato link

Came here for dinner on the night we arrived and I can tell you one thing… Goa was off to a delicious start!

The dishes in the pictures:

  1. Prawns Plancha which was essentially prawns tossed in garlic, chilli and garlic aioli (tbh I don’t know what aioli is) let me know if you do. All I know it was delicious, one of my favourite dishes here.
  2. Crispy Calamari not completely gaga over it. Was decent but wouldn’t order it again if given the chance. The meat was slightly tough and quite tasteless if I’m going to be completely honest.
  3. Bistro Pork Poutine yas! Yaas! Yaaas! Need I say more? The pork was perfectly cooked – tender as ever, it practically melted in my mouth. I need to find a place in Mumbai that does this. Genuinely.
  4. RED WINE SANGRIAAAA of course! Sorry I can’t tell you what wine it was or how it tasted after I shook the glass in my hand and smelt it like a fancy lady. Because well… even if I did do that, my opinion wouldn’t be accurate. In fact, it would be totally off, ahahahaha.

2. Zeebop : Zomato link

The perfect place by the beach. Great food, an insane view and a chance to take off your pants and jump in the sea. What’s not to love?

There’s not much to review here but honestly when in Goa all you really need is a perfectly grilled / tandoored Snapper. And this is that. And hey, if Snapper isn’t your thing, they bring you that terrifying platter of dead seafood to choose from. I promise it isn’t as traumatizing as my picture looks.

The drink you’re wondering? Fruit punch. Because I was so done with alcohol. But it was one yummy fruit punch, I tell ya.

3. Gunpowder : Zomato link

They got that name from their food, I tell you! It’ll blow your taste-buds away. Spicy is an understatement but delicious as hell.

Started off with some cocktails, I had the Smoked Maple Old Fashioned which is a blend of bourbon, maple syrup, bitter and Islay misk.

For starters we had the Andhra Prawn Masala, Beef Fry and Spicy Chorizo. I think my favourite was hands down the Prawns, we even called for seconds.

Now… if you have a low, medium, heck! Even a high tolerance for spice, do not order the Spicy Chirizo. It comes straight from hell I tell ya! No joke.

The main coarse was incredible. We had this Idukki pork curry which was nothing like anything I’d ever tasted before. Mostly because I don’t eat Kerala food but regardless… It was delicious. with Malabar Parotta at first and then with Appam. Also… I’m pretty sure, Appams are my new favourite thing to eat with curry. Or without curry.

I do have a couple more places that I really liked the food from. So if you’re interested, let me know in the comments. All you have to do is sign up with your email id, it ain’t that hard I promise.

Wearable Winter Lookbook

Hey!

Thought I’d better get this done before we blink and it’s spring already! TBH this is pretty insane for me! I never thought I would actually be doing a winter lookbook! Like a winter-winter lookbook. I live in Mumbai and if you do too, you’d know what I mean (:

So if you’re thinking, this ain’t gonna be of any use to me! Wait… Most of the outfits are wearable here mostly because I took of my coat so I could snap away. #BloggerLife eh?

So without further ado, let’s get started!

🎅 Santa baby much? With the hat and all.

Might be a bit too early to start picking favorites but this is hands down my absolute fave! Replace the sweater with a tee and knock off the stockings and you’re good to strut down the streets of Mumbai 😊.

This gives me all the PLL feels ❤️!

Doesn’t matter what I’m wearing underneath because a classic red coat makes everything look c-u-t-e! And when you have a red beanie to match , it’s just the icing on the cake. Don’t you think?

Is it just me, or does this make you go, “Are we outta the woods yet….”

Jeans and a sweater. Classic 👌🏼. But TBH, the beanie is my favourite part of the outfit. Because that pom pom though.

Also the sweater, the first and possibly the last time I’m wearing it. It’s itchy af!

Look away they say. It’s more Tumblr they say.

Don’t know how I survived the day with just this on but I’m glad I did. Classy over cold!

Everything that I’m wearing in this picture is from India minus the scarf and the beanie. Which means everything that I’m wearing in this picture I wear in India – minus the scarf and the beanie. I think it’s super trendy and perfect for a shopping trip.

It’s the absolute worst when you get into a mall and have to carry your huge coat all over the place. #FirstWorldStruggles

I’m just happy I still got all ten toes with me!

Leather skirt from Forever 21, sweater from Chemistry. Apt for -28, apt for 28. The colder it is, just add stockings and boots to keep you warm. I think this outfit is perfect for a brunch or linner. What do you think? Where would you wear it to?

Let me know which was your favorite look and where would you wear it to. Share it with your friends from colder climates and comment if you would wear some of the looks here!

QUICK, COMFY AND CUTE!

Hello Sunshine,

No I wasn’t trying to sound like your grandpa! I was trying to be cool. Anyway… I should stop. I’m only going to embarrass myself further.

Outfit No.1:

I probably shouldn’t be picking favourites but OMG! THIS IS MY FAVOURITE! I love the white with the navy, with the denim and the tan leather shoes. #LIVIN Also not too sure if ponchos are in, but I’m diggin’ this one!

And I think we can all agree this is not going to take more than 1.5 minutes to throw on!

Outfit No. 2:

IMG_20170501_175248373_BURST001

Bright, multi-coloured, and so much happening dress! Because it’s all you need to throw on and you’re ready to strut out the door. Don’t forget your shoes though!

I’m a huge fan of dresses in the summer time. Their light, their breezy and even though it’s the easiest thing you could ever wear, it looks like you’ve put in quite the effort.
Also! Get yourself some tan leather / faux leather shoes – they are literally the best!

Outfit No. 3:

IMG_1570

Surprise! Surprise! Another dress. For those of you who know me, this is literally my uniform! It doesn’t need ironing and it has sleeves so if your underarms are pokey you’re covered girl! Sorry if that was a bit TMI for you. Also it’s cotton and perfect for summer.
I love paring it with bright and fun sneakers for a pop of colour!

Hahahaha… Bottom line of this blog post – STOCK UP ON DRESSES! Or shorts and loose, flowey… flowy flow-ey (clearly I don’t know the spelling) tops.

More importantly tell me what kind of outfits you’re going to slay this summer!

Xoxo ❤
