The Perfect Getaway!

What are you up to these hot summer days?

I just traveled to an even hotter destination than the one I’m currently in. But it was every bit worth it. Now I know Kerala is known to be God’s own country but literally it is! Err ma gawd it’s breathtakingly beautiful. I’m just so blessed to have even gotten this opportunity, much thanks to Shanice. You probably know her from My Birthday Blog ! post. You know… my soul sister but now I feel like the trophy sister, haahahaha.

Anyway… get yourself some popcorn or chips, a coke, a juice – whatever you like. This is going to be a long one! (Also … Question of the day – do any of you call snakes ‘long ones’ ? PLEASE LET ME KNOW!)

Right from the time Shanice told me about this trip till I reached the hotel, I had absolutely no clue of what to expect. I just knew, I was going to Kerala and staying at the Taj. So I knew it would be great but I mean… This was next level. As we pulled into the property, we were greeted with chilled coconut water and a scenery that could take your breath away.

We were then escorted to our rooms, actually… scratch that. We were then escorted to our gorgeous little house with a front porch and a pond! I’m just sad I didn’t get a picture of the bathroom area for you guys. It was pretty though. Right next to the shower was an outdoorsy type area covered in pebbles.

I’m absolutely in love with this place. It’s the most peaceful, calm, serene getaway location ever. You’ll hear the sound of birds throughout your stay as they share borders with a bird sanctuary. Also no matter what time of year you visit, there’ll be something to do. From pottery to cycle tours or just a ride around the property, boating in their private pond. Or a boat ride into the backwaters, rappelling, swimming you name it!

I fell in love even with the tea time snacks. I kid you not, after eating this banana fritter I ate at least about 5 more throughout my stay in Kerala.

I’m in love with this!

Best tea time snacks ever. With a cup of filter coffee – Yaaaas!

Some tea time trivia for you.

So tea time starts at 4:00pm and ends at 5:00pm followed by a boat ride. I was obsessed with taking pictures everywhere! In fact, before coming to Kerala, I randomly messaged Shanice saying I want a yellow wall to take pictures in front of! To which she said, oh don’t worry… You’ll find plenty in Kerala. Girl! Was she right. And my favourite was this tiny storage unit right where Chayakada was served. So you can only guess how we passed our time. Besides the chats we never seem to run out of, lol!

PSX_20190412_175915PSX_20190412_174058PSX_20190412_173357PSX_20190412_173954PSX_20190412_173717PSX_20190412_173606PSX_20190412_173119

Straight out of a story book, or what? And not only the place and the pictures. The people are so lovely. Everyone! Just such kind, genuine, helpful, chatty people. The Helmsman (if I can call him that) offered to take our pictures – he also asked us to move about to get the perfect shot! Hahaaha… it was the cutest thing. The guide with us from the hotel was telling us about the floods and how the water was up to their waist at the Taj. Everyone was relocated to their Kochi property. He was telling us to go for a walk at 6:00am to the bird sanctuary next door to which we were slightly apprehensive. Then he was like this is not Mumbai or Delhi, Kerala is very safe.

After that extremely relaxing boat trip, we went for an early dinner, while live folk music was playing. Then stayed for a couple minutes to watch the folk dancer before we called it a night.

I would totally recommend staying at the Taj Kumarakom for a special occasion or even just a relaxing getaway. Although a little more on the pricey side depending on what you want, I felt that they really got everything SO right. They were extremely accommodating and their customer service and attention to detail was spot on. They made our special stay feel so special and everybody was friendly and very helpful.

I think that’s enough for one blog post, I’ll do day 2 in another. Hope you enjoyed reading this. Do share it with your friends or family planning a trip and make sure to give it a like.

TOP 3 PLACES TO EAT AT IN GOA

Hello again,

Don’t want to jinx it but I think this is going to be the year in which you’re going to hear so much from me, you’re going to be bored to tears! A.K.A the year in which I’m actually going to post as much as I should have all these years.

Hope you liked my previous post on my Goa outfits. If you haven’t read it yet, here’s the link, go check it out and come back (: GOA 2019 LOOKBOOK .

Now, on to my 3 favourite places to eat at in Goa.

DISCLAIMER: This is strictly a food review. Which means I’m not going to write about the ambiance, the service or anything else that might add to a great experience. Don’t expect me to anyway. If I add extras in there, take it with a smile. AND LIKE MY POST!

Carry on now… 😀

1. The Black Sheep Bistro : Zomato link

Came here for dinner on the night we arrived and I can tell you one thing… Goa was off to a delicious start!

The dishes in the pictures:

  1. Prawns Plancha which was essentially prawns tossed in garlic, chilli and garlic aioli (tbh I don’t know what aioli is) let me know if you do. All I know it was delicious, one of my favourite dishes here.
  2. Crispy Calamari not completely gaga over it. Was decent but wouldn’t order it again if given the chance. The meat was slightly tough and quite tasteless if I’m going to be completely honest.
  3. Bistro Pork Poutine yas! Yaas! Yaaas! Need I say more? The pork was perfectly cooked – tender as ever, it practically melted in my mouth. I need to find a place in Mumbai that does this. Genuinely.
  4. RED WINE SANGRIAAAA of course! Sorry I can’t tell you what wine it was or how it tasted after I shook the glass in my hand and smelt it like a fancy lady. Because well… even if I did do that, my opinion wouldn’t be accurate. In fact, it would be totally off, ahahahaha.

2. Zeebop : Zomato link

The perfect place by the beach. Great food, an insane view and a chance to take off your pants and jump in the sea. What’s not to love?

There’s not much to review here but honestly when in Goa all you really need is a perfectly grilled / tandoored Snapper. And this is that. And hey, if Snapper isn’t your thing, they bring you that terrifying platter of dead seafood to choose from. I promise it isn’t as traumatizing as my picture looks.

The drink you’re wondering? Fruit punch. Because I was so done with alcohol. But it was one yummy fruit punch, I tell ya.

3. Gunpowder : Zomato link

They got that name from their food, I tell you! It’ll blow your taste-buds away. Spicy is an understatement but delicious as hell.

Started off with some cocktails, I had the Smoked Maple Old Fashioned which is a blend of bourbon, maple syrup, bitter and Islay misk.

For starters we had the Andhra Prawn Masala, Beef Fry and Spicy Chorizo. I think my favourite was hands down the Prawns, we even called for seconds.

Now… if you have a low, medium, heck! Even a high tolerance for spice, do not order the Spicy Chirizo. It comes straight from hell I tell ya! No joke.

The main coarse was incredible. We had this Idukki pork curry which was nothing like anything I’d ever tasted before. Mostly because I don’t eat Kerala food but regardless… It was delicious. with Malabar Parotta at first and then with Appam. Also… I’m pretty sure, Appams are my new favourite thing to eat with curry. Or without curry.

I do have a couple more places that I really liked the food from. So if you’re interested, let me know in the comments. All you have to do is sign up with your email id, it ain’t that hard I promise.

M U L L E D W I N E .

Yeah! It gets you in the Christmas spirit but you know what, if it tastes good you wouldn’t mind having it all year round. Eh?

So excuse the fact that this is straight off my Insta Story but hey! The wine turned out fabulous and I think you’re gonna enjoy going through this.

  • 2 Cinnamon Sticks
  • 8 Cloves
  • 4 Star Anise ( I used 3 but it still turned out delish!)

By the way, all the ingredients shown are for two bottles of wine.

So sorry you have to look at my attempt at Orange and lemon art. Like that’s even a thing! And this is important – I only ended up using one orange because of how huge they are!

1/4 cup

Also 1/4 cup.

The best part is that all you do is combine all your ingredients and wait for it to simmer. Note – not boil cause you don’t want to get rid of that alcohol now, do you?

And TA-DA!

Hope you enjoy your mulled wine. Send me pictures if you end up making it and let me know how yours turns out! ❤️

XOXO

DELHI: My first holiday with BAE (and his family)

Hey guys 💙💙💙

I wish I had done this post sooner. In fact, I would’ve probably done this the minute I got back from holiday – If only I had a blog then. Oh Well! So here we are today throwing it back to all those emotions! 😃😟😡😍😝😱😎😴
You know… The fear of thinking about all the things that can go wrong on holiday, the anxiety that takes over you when you think about how you’ll be away from home with no way of getting back if you get into a fight and those little soft voices in the back of your head telling you, “things change after staying with a person” are reason enough to back away from a holiday with your boyfriend. Even more so your first one. But none of them could over power the excitement building up inside the second I got permission to go. None of those negative thoughts could win over the endless positive ones.

MY FIRST FREAKING HOLIDAY WITH MY BOYFRIEND!!!

I do have a diary in which I write about special times and of course this made the cut. So I thought it would be interesting to quote some of the things I wrote about the holiday as it was jotted down at the time.

Pre Trip… (Diary entry No. 1) 👜🕶✈️

” Aaaaaah! This has got to be the highlight of 2014! My dad agreed to send me to Delhi with Andre and his fam jam. My sweetheart boyfriend asked him for permission.

First he said he’ll think about it. The next morning  he came to my room and said I could go! Woot Woot!

We went by air, Andre and I sat together – OBVIOUSLY! Just the whole experience from going to his house, then to the airport, waiting for our flight… It was all so magical.

On air we were as in love as can be. I lay my head on his shoulder and he lay his head on mine. He also said, ” this reminds me on Spain”. Hahahahaha…. Eeeeeeep! Wish time could just stand still.

Anyway, for snacks we shared a Masala Chai and some chicken sandwich – not the best! We then fell asleep for the rest of the flight and only woke up just as we were about to land. So Romantic! I know.”

That concludes diary entry number 1. I think that pretty much sums up all the excitement perfectly. Yes, we did go to Spain together. It was for the World Youth Day. And that was before we started dating. If you don’t know what the World Youth Day is, it’s an event for young people organized every three (or sometimes, two) years by the Catholic Church. The next occasion, World Youth Day 2016, is currently being held in Kraków, Poland. World Youth Day was initiated by Saint Pope John Paul II in 1985.

In Delhi… (Diary entry No. 2) 🍽🏨💃🏻

” Our hotel car was waiting for us at the airport. We got in and off to our hotel. We stayed at the Crowne Plaza hotel in Okhla, New Delhi.

The hotel was so lovely. Totally wishing Andre and I were here alone. Hahahahaha… We got to our rooms, ate some lunch – Chicken Curry, Mutton Curry and Naans. Yumm! Freshened up and headed out to explore.

We went to an exhibition where in they sold artifacts, clothing, jewelry and food from the different states in India. I bought an embroidered Vest – Super pretty! The exhibition was so interesting with so many things to see that we ended up spending the rest of the evening there.

We ate some chicken and pork dumplings and had a fruit punch each. It was a half an hour drive to dinner. So we looked around some more, then headed to go get some grub!

Ended up at a Tibetan Restaurant. The food was absolutely delicious! My favourite was their Steamed Bread. I could literally eat it plain. It was that good! We had some of the best kulfi for dessert. Hmmm… Isn’t the quality of milk in Delhi so much  better than that in Mumbai?!

Then got back in the car and drove back to the hotel. Showered and jumped right into bed! EXHAUSTED!!! “

Day One DONE! Not a good thing, but everything ends. 😦 I haven’t written about every single day in detail, but I did do day number Two as it was our anniversary (well technically our Monthasary) but yeah…

The MONTHASARY… (Diary entry No. 3) 💏💖👫

” Breakfast at 9:00am. I got full only looking at the food laid out. Jokes! I ate a lot. But there was the works! A Japanese counter, Eggs however you like them, drinks of any kind, fruit and if that wasnt enough dumplings, fried rice, pastries and ofcourse Indian as well.

When we were done with breakfast, we came back to the room for a bit. Andre and I played with each other like little children – jumping up and down on the bed. As we all do in a hotel room! Definitely my cardio for the day! Hahahaha… God! I love him.  After our fun and games, we kicked off the sightseeing.

1. The Lotus Temple.

IMG_4666

2. Humayum’s Tomb.

Took a break for some lunch at Saravayana Bhavan, then went shopping to the Tibetan Market- Janpat. I bought myself a pair of Palazzo pants and some jewelry.

We drove through the Diplomatic Enclave which is where all the Embassy’s are. Pretty Darn Cool! Also visited the India Gate. It is so massive! Did not expect it to be that huge and incredibly beautiful too.

Then some dinner and back to the hotel! “

I hope you’re enjoying going down memory lane with me. If you are, let me know in the comments that you like it, and if you’re not let me know what kind of posts would you like to read about. But… Atleast the pictures are great, right? Here’s the final diary entry. ENJOY!

(Diary entry No. 4) 💻🍿💑

” The next few days had a lot of sightseeing in it. My favourite was visiting the Taj Mahal (totally original, I know). But that was just a great day! We took a ton of pictures and had a seven hour car ride back to the hotel!

The long car ride would’ve definitely been the bane of my entire existence as for one , I get motion sickness and two I just hate sitting in one small space for a long period of time. But it was night time and we were all super tired! Lucky for us Andre’s mum carried some blankets and pillows from the hotel, so we tucked ourselves in all nice and snug and slept the whole journey back.

Got back to the room and ofcourse … Now we were wide awake! So we ended up binge watching The Walking Dead. So much fun!!!! Eeeeeeeeeeeep!

Gosh, I love this boy!!!!

Is he ‘THE ONE’???

Hey guys 💙

Welcome back or Welcome. It’s been a while since I’ve posted on here and I’m so sorry about that. From now on I’m going to try and be more regular.

How have you guys been? Enjoying the rains so far or hiding away in the comfort of your homes? I think the former – long walks no matter what the weather – trying to catch em all 😆. Anyway… Let’s just get into what we’re really here for!

Disclaimer: I am no expert of any sort on relationships . These are just tips of advice that I’ve learnt over the years and and would like to share them with you guys. I do hope you find this useful and enjoy reading.

He’ll ALWAYS make time for you. Now every guy is different- that’s a given. But someone who truly loves you will try and be with you no matter how tough it may be. André and I have been together for over four years now and I can literally count on my fingers the number of days we haven’t met each other at all since dating. And yes it’s hard sometimes, no we don’t have all the time in the world to do nothing except be together and yes André works! But we still meet everyday. I’m not saying you have to dump your boyfriend now because he doesn’t meet you daily! What I mean is he should be excited to make plans with you , make you a priority and take even a little while out of his days to have some couple time.

He’ll think of YOU first. I’m pretty sure if you’re thinking about him before yourself, somebody needs to be doing the same for you. It has got to be two sided in every way. What I mean by think of you first is for example, When you’ll go out – does he make sure he’s taking you somewhere safe, will you be comfortable with the crowd there, etc etc. I know these are decisions you can make on your own, but it means a lot to know he really does care.

12088431_10206393330405682_6315328852038415284_n

Finds any excuse to touch you. This is more of a pre dating one. But very true indeed. I remember the days André and I would meet way before dating… Pretty sure we both liked each other but neither of us had said it yet. Everytime we met he would find or make up an excuse to hit my arms or catch my hands or make me mad so I would end up hitting him etc. Some childish ways just never change and I for one never want them to.

578209_3487627786023_198255118_n

TALK TALK TALK. Spend hours on the phone, in person, texting or whatever it is. Just talk, share and connect with each other. Make sure you’ll are a compatible pair. Never hold anything back! It’s so important to be on the same page as your partner when it comes to your beliefs, values etc. It may not seem like a very big issue in the beginning, but it will eat you up in the long run.

12985518_10207869931162796_4848896173635612534_n

He will always be Supportive of you. You know he’s a great catch when you see him doing everything he can to make you happy. When I say supportive (Yes like a bra) I mean he’s there for you ANYTIME ANYWHERE. He’ll be your personal photographer if suddenly one day you decide to be a blogger. He’ll change any mannerisms that upset you about himself. He’ll be at your place at sharp 9:00am on the only holiday he gets in the week to help you clean your house for your birthday party. The list goes on, as it should. Because that is love, sacrifice and compromise.

Thanks for everything Andre, you have taught me what it is to love. And girls! If you know a guy who treats you like the princess you deserve to be treated like – you keep him close! I’ll stop here for now before this starts to get boring AF! I hope you girls enjoyed reading this and if you’re a guy – TAKE NOTES!
