Is that still a thing btw, to say ‘heylo’ ? Who knows, who cares. Now I don’t know about you but I’m almost always broke af. One day I won’t be (hopefully) but until then, here’s how to you know… FAKE IT TILL YOU MAKE IT, BRAG IT TILL YOU BAG IT, SHOW IT TILL YOU SCORE IT. LOOK IT THOUGHT IT ISN’T IT.
There’s literally no downside to this. You’ll be comf, cute and well… expensive (seem so anyway). Since every rich person ever is in with the trend. Less is more, not trying too hard is the new trying hard. If you know what I mean.
Switch up basic
You can literally buy any plain basic tee and make it look chic / fashion forward by knotting it up and tucking it under. You could skip the tucking under part but I just feel it looks more classy. Then again… who am I really?
French is fancy.
If you find a tee with a French quote on it, bag it. It could literally be INR 150, baggy as hell or ripped but since it says something with acutes and graves, it must be high fashion, right? Dress it up with a blazer and a neck piece. Or maybe a formal black skort and heels or mules!
Steal every deal!
This is no news to look out for the best deals. But I would suggest getting really neutral, staple pieces. Like a pair of classic denim shorts. Or cute workout clothes that are normally extremely overpriced at Nike! ):
Honestly these could be 6000 bucks from French Connection, who would really know? I know because I have the 6000 FCUK ones too and their basically the same thing. But I get the whole wanting to splurge feeling. But this ain’t that blog post!
Make sure you’re having one of them ‘ GOOD HAIR DAYS ‘
Wash it, curl it, straighten it, dry shampoo it – do what you gotta do because if your hair isn’t working your outfit won’t work. And well, if your hair is fab, you can pull off a brown paper bag!
Hope you found this useful. Let me know in the comments if you have any more tips and tricks on how to look expensive when you’re broke af!
And welcome to today’s blog post. Today is a bright sunny day as every other day here in Mumbai, lol. But if you’re looking for something to do over the weekend, or on a weekday… Rent a bike with your buddy and tour the streets. Preferably before 8:00am because you’d probably get a sun stroke and faint after that. But a little exercise first thing in the morning, I always find makes me feel a lot more active during the day.
Here’s some pictures from our cycle tour in Kumarakom, Kerala. Literally thought Shanice would give up after leaving the hotel property itself. But boy did she surprise me! We did a good two hours or so of cycling around the village from 7:00am to 9:40am. It was the best thing ever! The clean air, birds chirping, the gorgeous sceneries and the exercise of course.
Got back to the hotel to this gorgeous breakfast. Classic eggs and baked beans. With fruit obviously because you know how I feel about photogenic foods 😉 hahahha… but no after those healthy two hours, I definitely needed some fruit in my system. And obviously coffee too. But then again, I always need coffee in my system and I’m sure you do too.
Hope you enjoyed reading this post. What time do you wake up on the daily? Let me know in the comments below!
I just traveled to an even hotter destination than the one I’m currently in. But it was every bit worth it. Now I know Kerala is known to be God’s own country but literally it is! Err ma gawd it’s breathtakingly beautiful. I’m just so blessed to have even gotten this opportunity, much thanks to Shanice. You probably know her from My Birthday Blog ! post. You know… my soul sister but now I feel like the trophy sister, haahahaha.
Anyway… get yourself some popcorn or chips, a coke, a juice – whatever you like. This is going to be a long one! (Also … Question of the day – do any of you call snakes ‘long ones’ ? PLEASE LET ME KNOW!)
Right from the time Shanice told me about this trip till I reached the hotel, I had absolutely no clue of what to expect. I just knew, I was going to Kerala and staying at the Taj. So I knew it would be great but I mean… This was next level. As we pulled into the property, we were greeted with chilled coconut water and a scenery that could take your breath away.
We were then escorted to our rooms, actually… scratch that. We were then escorted to our gorgeous little house with a front porch and a pond! I’m just sad I didn’t get a picture of the bathroom area for you guys. It was pretty though. Right next to the shower was an outdoorsy type area covered in pebbles.
I’m absolutely in love with this place. It’s the most peaceful, calm, serene getaway location ever. You’ll hear the sound of birds throughout your stay as they share borders with a bird sanctuary. Also no matter what time of year you visit, there’ll be something to do. From pottery to cycle tours or just a ride around the property, boating in their private pond. Or a boat ride into the backwaters, rappelling, swimming you name it!
I fell in love even with the tea time snacks. I kid you not, after eating this banana fritter I ate at least about 5 more throughout my stay in Kerala.
So tea time starts at 4:00pm and ends at 5:00pm followed by a boat ride. I was obsessed with taking pictures everywhere! In fact, before coming to Kerala, I randomly messaged Shanice saying I want a yellow wall to take pictures in front of! To which she said, oh don’t worry… You’ll find plenty in Kerala. Girl! Was she right. And my favourite was this tiny storage unit right where Chayakada was served. So you can only guess how we passed our time. Besides the chats we never seem to run out of, lol!
Straight out of a story book, or what? And not only the place and the pictures. The people are so lovely. Everyone! Just such kind, genuine, helpful, chatty people. The Helmsman (if I can call him that) offered to take our pictures – he also asked us to move about to get the perfect shot! Hahaaha… it was the cutest thing. The guide with us from the hotel was telling us about the floods and how the water was up to their waist at the Taj. Everyone was relocated to their Kochi property. He was telling us to go for a walk at 6:00am to the bird sanctuary next door to which we were slightly apprehensive. Then he was like this is not Mumbai or Delhi, Kerala is very safe.
After that extremely relaxing boat trip, we went for an early dinner, while live folk music was playing. Then stayed for a couple minutes to watch the folk dancer before we called it a night.
I would totally recommend staying at the Taj Kumarakom for a special occasion or even just a relaxing getaway. Although a little more on the pricey side depending on what you want, I felt that they really got everything SO right. They were extremely accommodating and their customer service and attention to detail was spot on. They made our special stay feel so special and everybody was friendly and very helpful.
I think that’s enough for one blog post, I’ll do day 2 in another. Hope you enjoyed reading this. Do share it with your friends or family planning a trip and make sure to give it a like.
Morning, afternoon, evening Fleekies! (Depends on when you’re reading this)
Hope you’re enjoying the ridiculously hot weather (: I know I am! Because with the heat I end up waking up earlier which in turn leads me to getting more done and feeling a lot happier.
Speaking of happy, there’s this new cool jewelry / accessory brand called THE HAPPY TRIBE. I personally love it because every piece is hand crafted. Every stone, every wire and each chain is personally handpicked to create these gorgeous pieces. Which means no two pieces will be the same. Ever.
Here are some of my favourites from her collection.
If you’re interested and want to get in touch with her, check out Instagram of course – the most millennial destination to ever exist! There’s a lot more stuff you’ll love ❤ . Also, you know the drill… To keep getting her products on your feed follow @happytribee . Because what can make you happier that fashion? Let me know if you know the answer to that. Really, please do.
I started The Happy Tribe purely because of the joy it brought me. I try and keep my designs just like every one of my customers – unique, beautiful, imperfectly perfect. Right from inception, The Happy Tribe has given me unimaginable opportunities, memories and so much to look forward to.
I don’t know about you but I think this is the work of a genius. And I’m so so so lucky that this genius is also my friend. And no bias (kinda) but he is also one of the nicest human beings I know. Genuinely.
You know… The kinda hairstylist that inspires quotes like, “Friends come and go but a good hairstylist is forever.” or “Behind every beautiful woman is her hairdresser.” or “Hairgicians. People who create magic for clients without a wand.” … This can literally go on forever.
He is Loic Chapoix . Art Director at Dessange Bandra . So if you’re thinking of getting a few inches chopped off or going from a black head to a brunette, you know the guy!
In case you want to know about my hair, he didn’t cut much of the length. Just gave it some layers and definition and did a balayage. Mixed a shade of brown with a shade of burgundy. So there’s a slight red-ish undertone. He called it Cherry Cola. #InLove <3.
Now, on to the hairstyles…
The messy-chic knot
I feel bad for even calling this a hairstyle because it’s so simple.
Pick and twist two sections from either side of your head all the way to the back
Tie both sections into a double knot as you would with your shoe lace
Secure it with a bobby pin if need be
And that is literally it. Still looks so put together for some reason. I’m sure the perfectly curled hair helps but try it on second day curled hair. Could work wonders. Or if you have naturally gorgeous locks. (:
Just the right amount of “I put in the effort” without seeming like you tried too hard. Because let’s be honest, this hairstyle is easy af!
Loosely pick bits from the around your forehead
Attempt to make a half up messy bun
Bobby pin it up leaving a generous number of stands out
Let me know what you think. Do you love the colour, which hairstyle did you prefer and do you have any 5 second hairstyles of your own that you’d like to share! Leave it all in the comments below ❤ .
If you’re interested in what I did on the anniversary of being expelled from my mother’s uterus, then keep reading (:
I’ve always been a fan of chill, relaxing birthdays. So this year, my mum booked me a room at the Taj Mahal Palace hotel. Checked in on the 19th around tea time so we would be in time for the tour of the hotel – its history, the people etc. Turned out the tour had been pre-poned and had just started when we got there.
If you’re interested in the tour, try and check in by 2:30 so you can go for the tour at 3:30. Anyway… my room was filled with these heart balloons – borderline honeymoon vibes but oh well! Had tea with the mum ( and by tea, I mean juice, nuggets and fries) before she took off.
Check me out! In my evening gown and what not 😛
Hahahaha… In case it wasn’t obvious, went for a swim in the evening. Shanice really wished we had gowns to take pictures with on the staircase. So… Here I am, posing in my gown. 😀
Then showered and went out. Fun fact:
The shower at the Taj has the temperature on the knob. So you can adjust the heat accordingly :O :O :O I was blown away!
Also… totally in love with my birthday OOTD. I’m always the happiest in shorts. These are my Forever 21 ones that I got on sale for INR 450!
MANDATORY MINI PHOTO SESH, OF COURSE!
Pizza! Because like it says, we’re a pizza generation. And totes proud of it.
Nipped around the corner for some drinks at Bar Stock Exchange. Thank you to all those who came ❤ Lots of love.
Then got back to some Netflix but no chilling, lol. Riverdale tho ❤ ❤ ❤ !
And 3:00am room service has got to be the best thing of life. Agree?
But not before my sister from another mister, Shanice put together this #InstaWorthy setup. Girl! I F*CKING LOVE YOU!
SPONTANEOUS 3:00 AM PHOTO SHOOT, LOVE IT!
And then we passed out……….
20 / 03 / 2019 9:30 am
Birthday bath time. #Blessed
I know… the honeymoon vibes again. But as for now, this is the closest I’m going to get to anything romantic. (:
I love my photos to show that I’m super healthy. Mostly because fruit is so photogenic, lol. But besides this, I had coffee, pineapple and orange juice and a cheese and mushroom omelette.
Told you I’d be back soon. How’s it going?
I recently realized I have a whole lot of super cool perfumes. And what’s the point of having them if I don’t share em with you, right? So here’s that blog post!
For when I’m feeling like a celebrity!
I’m sure you’ve seen, read and heard this a gazillion times, ‘ You just need to BE YONCE!’ and her perfume is basically the best way to start. It’s one of those scents that everyone notices the minute you enter a room. Now it doesn’t last very long but it’s the perfect size to pop in your handbag and take with you where ever you go.
This is what the product description says, ” A charming and sparkling surprise of vibrant fruits, kissed by a bouquet of soft petals and a touch of sweet indulgence. The flawless beauty of freesia, apple blossom and raspberry spark a swirl of vibrancy and feminine allure.”
Honestly sounds a lot sweeter than it actually is. I’m not the biggest fan of very sweet scents and I like this one so, yeah. Also the bottle is the prettiest thing ever! Love the charms around it. I might do an upcycling my Taylor Swift perfume. Hahaha…. let me know if you’d like to see that.
This is also one of those scents that make you feel better than everybody else, you know? Those scents that make other people think that you have your ish together. Without giving out mature vibes. Because it is a young smell. If that was of any help at all, yikes!
For when I don’t want to carry the bottle with me!
In case you were wondering why, I hate the bottle but love the scent. This is its description, ” Guess girl is a seductive, floral-fruity fragrance signed by perfumer laurent le guernec of international flavours and fragrances. Top notes are dominated by fruity notes of nectar made of raspberry, melon and bergamot. The heart introduces floral notes of Brazilian paradise orchid combined with provencal acacia and lilies, while the soft and creamy base is composed of Australian sandalwood and Madagascar vanilla.”
It’s a great summer night scent – really fresh and not girly but feminine if you get what I mean. That flower cap tho – hideous! Lol.
This is the official description and it’s pretty accurate.
” Debuting the first fragrance developed wholly under Alessandro Michele’s creative vision: a scent designed to celebrate the authenticity, vitality and diversity of women—flourishing in a natural, expressive and individual way. Blended by master perfumer Alberto Morillas under the direction of the House’s Creative Director, Gucci Bloom is created to unfold like its name, capturing the rich scent of a thriving garden filled with an abundance of flowers. Tuberose and jasmine combine with Rangoon Creeper—a unique flower discovered in South India that is being used for the first time in perfumery to create a rich fragrance that transports the wearer to an imaginary garden. The scent is presented in a lacquered bottle, reminiscent of porcelain, in a vintage powder pink shade with a Gucci label appliqué. #InBloom ”
If you’re from India, then this scent won’t be as unique and exotic as they meant for it to be. But if you’re a fan of jasmine then this is the one! I love the packaging too but who could not? I mean it’s Gucci after all. And no one does luxury like Gucci. Except ofcourse Versace and Dior but you get the point!
On that note… see you soon for another blog post on ‘How to look expensive when you’re broke AF!” or something like that. Also follow me on Instagram, I may or may not be giving away the Gucci Bloom set to one lucky follower once I reach 1k.
Don’t want to jinx it but I think this is going to be the year in which you’re going to hear so much from me, you’re going to be bored to tears! A.K.A the year in which I’m actually going to post as much as I should have all these years.
Hope you liked my previous post on my Goa outfits. If you haven’t read it yet, here’s the link, go check it out and come back (: GOA 2019 LOOKBOOK .
Now, on to my 3 favourite places to eat at in Goa.
DISCLAIMER: This is strictly a food review. Which means I’m not going to write about the ambiance, the service or anything else that might add to a great experience. Don’t expect me to anyway. If I add extras in there, take it with a smile. AND LIKE MY POST!
Came here for dinner on the night we arrived and I can tell you one thing… Goa was off to a delicious start!
The dishes in the pictures:
Prawns Plancha which was essentially prawns tossed in garlic, chilli and garlic aioli (tbh I don’t know what aioli is) let me know if you do. All I know it was delicious, one of my favourite dishes here.
Crispy Calamari not completely gaga over it. Was decent but wouldn’t order it again if given the chance. The meat was slightly tough and quite tasteless if I’m going to be completely honest.
Bistro Pork Poutine yas! Yaas! Yaaas! Need I say more? The pork was perfectly cooked – tender as ever, it practically melted in my mouth. I need to find a place in Mumbai that does this. Genuinely.
RED WINE SANGRIAAAA of course! Sorry I can’t tell you what wine it was or how it tasted after I shook the glass in my hand and smelt it like a fancy lady. Because well… even if I did do that, my opinion wouldn’t be accurate. In fact, it would be totally off, ahahahaha.
The perfect place by the beach. Great food, an insane view and a chance to take off your pants and jump in the sea. What’s not to love?
There’s not much to review here but honestly when in Goa all you really need is a perfectly grilled / tandoored Snapper. And this is that. And hey, if Snapper isn’t your thing, they bring you that terrifying platter of dead seafood to choose from. I promise it isn’t as traumatizing as my picture looks.
The drink you’re wondering? Fruit punch. Because I was so done with alcohol. But it was one yummy fruit punch, I tell ya.
They got that name from their food, I tell you! It’ll blow your taste-buds away. Spicy is an understatement but delicious as hell.
Started off with some cocktails, I had the Smoked Maple Old Fashioned which is a blend of bourbon, maple syrup, bitter and Islay misk.
For starters we had the Andhra Prawn Masala, Beef Fry and Spicy Chorizo. I think my favourite was hands down the Prawns, we even called for seconds.
Now… if you have a low, medium, heck! Even a high tolerance for spice, do not order the Spicy Chirizo. It comes straight from hell I tell ya! No joke.
The main coarse was incredible. We had this Idukki pork curry which was nothing like anything I’d ever tasted before. Mostly because I don’t eat Kerala food but regardless… It was delicious. with Malabar Parotta at first and then with Appam. Also… I’m pretty sure, Appams are my new favourite thing to eat with curry. Or without curry.
I do have a couple more places that I really liked the food from. So if you’re interested, let me know in the comments. All you have to do is sign up with your email id, it ain’t that hard I promise.
Hope you had a wonderful 2018, as did I. To kick start the new year (well I say new year, lol! It’s already the 16th) I thought it would only be right to show you some of the outfits I brought with me on my trip to Goa. Wow! That sentence was a mouthful, oh well!
Hope you like these tropical / beachy / summer ready OOTDs. Let me know which is your favourite too in the comment section.
Day time looks
Felt it would only be right to start off with the outfit on the cover. This bathing suit – shorts – flip flop combo is my absolute fave. And a staple for any tropical vacation.
Got this swimsuit from SheIn – super affordable and looks bomb, eh? If I’m going to be honest, this was a size Small and was still quite big for me. Especially on the boobage area ):
So if you have small boobs like me, please size down! Looks great in pictures though and makes sure I keep my back straight, haahhaa…
First off, please excuse my terrible editing job on this picture. Now that we got that out of the way, let’s continue…
This is one of those throw on and look pretty kinda looks, don’t you think? Same shorts. Same day. Same swimsuit underneath but denim has a way of not looking repetitive. So throw on a cute top and you’re as good as new.
I got this top from Bluenotes Canada but any cute casual top will work.
You will soon find out that I have an obsession with blue. Start counting the number of blue looks now onward, please. We’re at number 2.
Nevertheless, I love this top. Just the right amount of pretty to make it look like I put effort into this outfit without being too over the top for a walk to have coconut water.
Wish I could link it but I got this ages ago from Chemistry.
Blue top number 3. And hey! Give me a like just because I have a different pair of shorts on here. Bet you weren’t expecting that, were you? (:
Also I think this is one the the cheapest looks. Shorts for $5 from Bluenotes Canada and top for Rs. 300 from Forever 21.
Outfit under $10 boys and girls!
Let’s now move on to the night time looks. And keeping that blue count on!
Number 4. Yes, this dress is blue if the colours aren’t too clear. In my defense, blue is probably the best colour to wear on vacation.
It’s calming, soothing and the colour of the ocean.
Also looking at these pictures now, I look kind of pregnant. Hahahaha… Probably the dress but mostly all the food I’ve been eating on this trip. Let me know if you would like to see a blog post on some of my favourite places to eat at Goa!
Oh look! Black clothes! Hehehehe… Which one do you like more?
The black dress is like my uniform! I wear it literally all the time and everywhere! So easy to dress up and dress down. Got it for I think Rs. 800 or 900 from Forever 21. Best purchase I tell you.
The Bohemian esq top is from a girl in Malad who sells clothes from her home so I don’t know how to share her details with you ): But she also supplies to brands and boutiques. And I believe she had this top for Global Desi. So if you’re into this style, check them out.
My travel back home outfit, of course.
Simple, comf, cute. Once I let my hair down that is (: Top: Basic tee from Zara Tights: Victoria Sport
And that’s the end of all the outfits I wore on my Goa trip. Let me know which outfit was your fave and which one you hated.
How was Christmas? What did you get? What were you upto? How much did you eat? Do you want a rundown of everything I got? Let me know everything in the comments section.
I just got the RISE BEYONCE Perfume from my boss for Christmas and I’m in love with it. Also the packaging is completely bare so I thought it would only be right to write a review. Of course there are tons of other reviews out there, but read mine ok! ;P
First off the packaging is on fleek! Love the gold and black box with the shimmer. Very sophisticated and Beyonce esc. The bottle is even more beautiful. Looks like something Beyonce herself would be caught spritzing.
As for the scent, when you first spray it, it’s quite harsh. Like all the notes rush to your senses all at once and you can’t figure out what it actually smells like. Lol! DW it settles down in a few seconds and it’s quite a fruity scent. I was honestly surprised, didn’t expect it to be fruity so I thought…
Something is probably wrong with my senses. I’m not cut out for reviewing perfumes.
So I Googled it and this is what I found,
The RISE BEYONCE PARFUM is a blend of apricot, Italian bergamot, iced basil Sorbet, Orchid, Freesia, Sambac Jasmine, autumn woods, cashmere, musk and vetiver notes.
Wohooo! I can be a perfume reviwer after all! A ton of people were saying the Iced Basil Sorbet and Orchid stood out most but I’m honestly glad it’s the Apricot for me.
After all, the same perfume does smell different on each person!

I’ve attached a shop able link to the perfume here in case you’re looking for a gift or just to spoil yourself .
