If it’s Insta-Worthy, I’ll eat!

Hello ๐ŸŒป

This officially the hottest it’s ever been. Also one hundred percent sure I’ll say the same thing next year, but OMG! Sorry, this was just an unrelated pointless ramble. Nobody ever talks about the weather anymore. Jeez!

Have you really eaten something if you haven’t Insta-Storied it? Do you even feel hungry when you have enough cute pictures that match your theme? And is the aesthetic more important than the actual food itself?

That last one might be pushing it a bit too far. Here are some of my favorite places Insta wise as well as some of my favorite places to actually eat at. Even when I don’t need to update my feed. That’s saying alot now!

Breakfast at The Sassy Spoon!

‘Heels higher than your standards!’ SO YESTERDAY

Call me lazy, call me crazy! I love my flats.

Also because I can’t walk to save my life in heels, and I couldn’t care less to try. But who cares, right?

I think flats add so much more interest to a look. I think it makes an outfit unexpected in a way – mostly because people expect you to be all girly and high heely!
Yep. Stereotyping isn’t my thing.

Also whoever said there’s no gain without pain, clearly hasn’t seen the choice of flats out there! Here are some of my wardrobe favorites!

Because to be honest, there’s plenty more where that came from!

3 Ways to Style 1 Clothing Item!

Hey pretty people!

Welcome! Or welcome back ๐Ÿ˜€ ย I think this one is hands down one of my favourite posts. Firstly, I absolutely love Fashion! Also, I not only got to do a freaking low key shoot but I’m super excited for you’ll to see how I’ve styled my favourite pair of jeans! Good Times Guys! Good Times!

I’m totally aware that to some of you the jeans might me a bit too OUT THERE, but then again, you’re not going to actually be wearing the same pair of jeans. This is just for some Style Inspo and hopefully will get you out of a fix on, ‘What can I wear with this?’.

OUTFIT 1: Comfy Casual!

(Top: Zara; Jeans: Zara (over 3 years old); Bag: Vietnam; Shoes: Vietnam)

This first outfit is my everyday GO-TO look. I don’t know about you, but I love the huge rips in the jeans. Yes, the ‘Hobo Chic Look’. Now in all honesty this pair of jeans can be paired with practically any top but a plain white Tee and Blue denim is just my favourite combination!

Tip: If your top is a wee bit too long and you’re just not happy with the look, try tucking in a small portion of it. It makes all the difference!

This is a perfect look in the summer as well if for some reason you can’t wear shorts (you know the struggle of having to wax for shorts girls!). The jeans keep you super breezy and cool, but still cover the most part of your legs that you intend to keep hidden.

OUTFIT 2: Sunday Brunch!

(Top: Forever 21)

This next look has instantly taken a girly turn but still very true to Street Style. All I’ve done is switched out the basic tee to a very feminine top and it instantly changes the occasion I would wear it to. I think it would be perfect for a Sunday Brunch which is why – The Title! LOL. Of course, that’s just my opinion. You could wear this anywhere you want to.

Tip: If you’re on-the-go and you need to change from a casual to a more dressy look, just change tops andย accessories!

I threw on some glittery ballerinas and a floppy hat and it’s now so girly-esk! Loving this look. If you’re a heels kind of girl, this would look super cute in some tan or brown wedges!

OUTFIT 3: Night Out!

(Phone Case / Wallet: Forever New; Shoes: Old Navy)

This third and final outfit is (I would say) is a night time look. Ofcourse you don’t want to be carrying anything big and what more than your phone and money could you possibly need? So this phone case that doubles as a mini wallet is perfect. They didn’t have the same one I have so I linked something similar and in my opinion cuter!

Tip: To change any outfit from a daytime look to a nighttime one, all you got to do is throw in some black.

If its a tube top – even more apt for drinks out or even a house party. As for the shoes, as you can see I’ve just gone for some plain black basic ballerinas. But something that will instantly elevate the look a lot more are some nude pointy toe heels.

————————————————————————

And that’s all for today. I tried to link all the items that I wore that were still available on the sites. Even though that’s only two, I think all the items are pretty basic and similar items can easily be found in case you want to purchase them.

A huge to Thank You to the best photographer I know,ย Andre Fernandesย for the pictures and for all the madness that went into the shoot. And by madness I mean climbing up on construction poles to get that top shot! You’re an absolute delight to work with.

THE WEIRDEST FOODS I’VE TRIED ๐Ÿ˜ฌ !

Hello friends!

I really wish we had a wider variety of meats to choose from here in India. Oh Well! Vietnam wouldn’t have been much of an experience (food wise) if we did.

I’ve always fancied the idea of trying new and exotic types of meat, but when the time actually came to do so, it was so much harder than I imagined. These are a few of the weirdest foods I never thought I’d get the chance to try ever!

PIGEON

(Apologies for not having a picture of this one for some reason. I can assure you though – it looked disturbing. It came with the whole head and everything attached!)

Now this one doesn’t fall under the absolutely ridiculous category, but it is kinda weird … I mean if anyone ever tried eating a pigeon here in Mumbai they’d definitely die of food poisoning! It’s the norm in Vietnam to eat practically everything that lives. So in the hotel we stayed at, one of the dishes on the menu was pigeon. It tasted like a much more tender chicken with a lot less flesh.

SNAILS!

unnamed (3)unnamed (4)

Urghhh! Not going to lie, this one was pretty hard to try. We got given snails twice during our stay. The first time was snail mince mixed with pork mince – that wasn’t too intimidating. The second time however was just plain boiled snails. You have to poke the flesh and pull it out of the shell, dip it in this ‘to die for’ sauce and eat it. I managed to digest one and that too with great difficulty. It wasn’t at all because it was yucky and didn’t taste good, it tasted brilliant in fact quite like squid. It was just the mental tension of it being a snail and my mind envisioning it crawling in my mouth that didn’t allow me to have any more.

CRICKETS!

unnamed

OMG!!! Definitely the craziest of all! Surprisingly, even though it happened to be the creepiest looking dish – it was the tastiest. Took a while for me to down the first few, but after that I was popping them like pop corn. They were fried nice and crispy with the most yummy seasoning. Couldn’t feel the tentacles or anything as you would imagine. The best way to describe what it was like is eating shrimp with the shell on. But not as hard and crunchy. I hate eating the shrimp with the shell on but this is a lot less hard and a great movie snack in fact. Maybe as crunchy as popcorn but a very different flavour. Overall, this was a delightful dish.

Id like to end by saying, try new things, get out of your comfort zone and I’m not just talking food wise. Take risks, find great adventures because if you don’t you’re not living. You’re merely existing.

Hope you liked this post. Don’t forget to like, comment, follow (scroll to the bottom to do so) and share. I love you all lots!

Types of Shoppers ( during SALES )

Hello ๐Ÿ’๐Ÿป

This is something completely different, well it is fashion related (I guess). But it’s an observational post. I love going shopping whether it’s actually to buy something (which is preferable) or even if it’s just to browse. I’ve observed different people and their behaviour. So I thought it would be fun to do a blog post on it. Let me know in the comments what type of a shopper are you? Even if you’re not one from the list โ˜บ๏ธ.ย

Now we all know July – August is THE month for sales. Everywhere you look is a 50-70% Off sign. And me being the clothing addict that I am has to go check them out. There’s no place I’d rather spend my time at than – THE MALL. I joke that it’s my natural habitat. But we all know that it isn’t much of a joke. If there’s any place I’ve observed a lot at its here. There are so many different kinds of shoppers. Some of the most common ones are…
1. The “trend setters” they’ll never buy clothing, shoes or accessories on sale. Only because they don’t ever want to be caught dead in something that’s last season.

2. The “window shopper” and let’s be real – we all come under this category a lot of the times! Those who love to check out what’s in stock. Those who know exactly what top is from where or what brand of shoes those are, but they never actually purchase the item.

3. The “blind shopper”. I hope to someday reach this level. They never ever look at the price tags! They never look to see if the item is on sale or if it’s amongst the new collection – they like it, they buy it.

4. The “pushy mum”. We all secretly wish our mums were like this, but not everyone is lucky enough! These are the super rich mums who love to spoil their kids rotten. Those who want to keep buying clothes, shoes, bags, socks you name it for their child. So much so that the child themself tells her they don’t need all that.

5. Then there’s the opposite kind of mum, the “think a hundred times before you buy” kind. Do they really need it? How long will they use it for? Is it worth the price? Will I get it somewhere else at a better rate? The questions go on. And the funniest part is they’ll calculate the price of the item and consider how long will they use it for. In this way, they’ll end up getting the exact amount for it per day. Ridiculous- I know! But you got to do what you got to do when you’re on a budget!
To be honest there are a ton more of these “Types of Shoppers” but I don’t want this post getting stretched out too much.

On to the ones we’re focusing on … “The SALE Shenanigans” those who don’t shop all year round just to save all their money to shop during the sales. These people or just a lot of people in general who pass by a store they would usually never enter, but if they read “upto 60% OFF” they’ll walk right in without a second thought. It’s mostly girls dragging their boyfriends into the stores and children dragging parents. But ofcourse ย wives taking their husbands and middle aged women by themselves, not to forget the minority of males too! I mean…. I’m just wondering wouldn’t you save a lot more money if you shopped when you actually needed something irrespective if there’s a sale or not? In that way you would only end up buying the item you actually need. Whereas during a sale everything seems so much cheaper so you end up buying the items having the best deals which very often isn’t what you need at all. Then a few months later you realise you haven’t bought what you went for and have to go back and buy that item at full price.
I guess that ending made it seem like I’m all against sales , but the truth is I’m one of those suckers who can’t help but shop during the sales. I don’t know about you but I hate that feeling of buying something full price and then a few weeks later the price goes down by half! It’s the most annoying thing ever. The other side to the coin is obviously why pay Rs. 3000/- when you can get it for Rs. 1500/- ??? Like everything, there’s always a positive, there’s always a negative. I just thoroughly enjoyed watching all the different kinds of shoppers and their spending habits. It was both hilarious and ofcourse a great blog topic to write about!

If you liked this post, be sure to let me know in the comments or by liking it. Do share it with anyone you know that is like one of the shoppers mentioned. I hope you can relate ๐Ÿ˜œ and chao for now.

DELHI: My first holiday with BAE (and his family)

Hey guys ๐Ÿ’™๐Ÿ’™๐Ÿ’™

I wish I had done this post sooner. In fact, I would’ve probably done this the minute I got back from holiday – If only I had a blog then. Oh Well! So here we are today throwing it back to all those emotions! ๐Ÿ˜ƒ๐Ÿ˜Ÿ๐Ÿ˜ก๐Ÿ˜๐Ÿ˜๐Ÿ˜ฑ๐Ÿ˜Ž๐Ÿ˜ด
You know… The fear of thinking about all the things that can go wrong on holiday, the anxiety that takes over you when you think about how you’ll be away from home with no way of getting back if you get into a fight and those little soft voices in the back of your head telling you, “things change after staying with a person” are reason enough to back away from a holiday with your boyfriend. Even more so your first one. But none of them could over power the excitement building up inside the second I got permission to go. None of those negative thoughts could win over the endless positive ones.

MY FIRST FREAKING HOLIDAY WITH MY BOYFRIEND!!!

I do have a diary in which I write about special times and of course this made the cut. So I thought it would be interesting to quote some of the things I wrote about the holiday as it was jotted down at the time.

Pre Trip… (Diary entry No. 1) ๐Ÿ‘œ๐Ÿ•ถโœˆ๏ธ

” Aaaaaah! This has got to be the highlight of 2014! My dad agreed to send me to Delhi with Andre and his fam jam. My sweetheart boyfriend asked him for permission.

First he said he’ll think about it. The next morning  he came to my room and said I could go! Woot Woot!

We went by air, Andre and I sat together – OBVIOUSLY! Just the whole experience from going to his house, then to the airport, waiting for our flight… It was all so magical.

On air we were as in love as can be. I lay my head on his shoulder and he lay his head on mine. He also said, ” this reminds me on Spain”. Hahahahaha…. Eeeeeeep! Wish time could just stand still.

Anyway, for snacks we shared a Masala Chai and some chicken sandwich – not the best! We then fell asleep for the rest of the flight and only woke up just as we were about to land. So Romantic! I know.”

That concludes diary entry number 1. I think that pretty much sums up all the excitement perfectly. Yes, we did go to Spain together. It was for the World Youth Day. And that was before we started dating. If you don’t know what the World Youth Day is, it’s an event for young people organized every three (or sometimes, two) years by the Catholic Church. The next occasion, World Youth Day 2016, is currently being held in Krakรณw, Poland. World Youth Day was initiated by Saint Pope John Paul II in 1985.

In Delhi… (Diary entry No. 2) ๐Ÿฝ๐Ÿจ๐Ÿ’ƒ๐Ÿป

” Our hotel car was waiting for us at the airport. We got in and off to our hotel. We stayed at the Crowne Plaza hotel in Okhla, New Delhi.

The hotel was so lovely. Totally wishing Andre and I were here alone. Hahahahaha… We got to our rooms, ate some lunch – Chicken Curry, Mutton Curry and Naans. Yumm! Freshened up and headed out to explore.

We went to an exhibition where in they sold artifacts, clothing, jewelry and food from the different states in India. I bought an embroidered Vest – Super pretty! The exhibition was so interesting with so many things to see that we ended up spending the rest of the evening there.

We ate some chicken and pork dumplings and had a fruit punch each. It was a half an hour drive to dinner. So we looked around some more, then headed to go get some grub!

Ended up at a Tibetan Restaurant. The food was absolutely delicious! My favourite was their Steamed Bread. I could literally eat it plain. It was that good! We had some of the best kulfi for dessert. Hmmm… Isn’t the quality of milk in Delhi so much  better than that in Mumbai?!

Then got back in the car and drove back to the hotel. Showered and jumped right into bed! EXHAUSTED!!! “

Day One DONE! Not a good thing, but everything ends. ๐Ÿ˜ฆ I haven’t written about every single day in detail, but I did do day number Two as it was our anniversary (well technically our Monthasary) but yeah…

The MONTHASARY… (Diary entry No. 3) ๐Ÿ’๐Ÿ’–๐Ÿ‘ซ

” Breakfast at 9:00am. I got full only looking at the food laid out. Jokes! I ate a lot. But there was the works! A Japanese counter, Eggs however you like them, drinks of any kind, fruit and if that wasnt enough dumplings, fried rice, pastries and ofcourse Indian as well.

When we were done with breakfast, we came back to the room for a bit. Andre and I played with each other like little children – jumping up and down on the bed. As we all do in a hotel room! Definitely my cardio for the day! Hahahaha… God! I love him.  After our fun and games, we kicked off the sightseeing.

1. The Lotus Temple.

IMG_4666

2. Humayum’s Tomb.

Took a break for some lunch at Saravayana Bhavan, then went shopping to the Tibetan Market- Janpat. I bought myself a pair of Palazzo pants and some jewelry.

We drove through the Diplomatic Enclave which is where all the Embassy’s are. Pretty Darn Cool! Also visited the India Gate. It is so massive! Did not expect it to be that huge and incredibly beautiful too.

Then some dinner and back to the hotel! “

I hope you’re enjoying going down memory lane with me. If you are, let me know in the comments that you like it, and if you’re not let me know what kind of posts would you like to read about. But… Atleast the pictures are great, right? Here’s the final diary entry. ENJOY!

(Diary entry No. 4) ๐Ÿ’ป๐Ÿฟ๐Ÿ’‘

” The next few days had a lot of sightseeing in it. My favourite was visiting the Taj Mahal (totally original, I know). But that was just a great day! We took a ton of pictures and had a seven hour car ride back to the hotel!

The long car ride would’ve definitely been the bane of my entire existence as for one , I get motion sickness and two I just hate sitting in one small space for a long period of time. But it was night time and we were all super tired! Lucky for us Andre’s mum carried some blankets and pillows from the hotel, so we tucked ourselves in all nice and snug and slept the whole journey back.

Got back to the room and ofcourse … Now we were wide awake! So we ended up binge watching The Walking Dead. So much fun!!!! Eeeeeeeeeeeep!

Gosh, I love this boy!!!!

MAY Favourites (in beauty)

Hello everybody ๐Ÿ’•.ย

We’ve finally gotten through the hottest month of them all, MAY!!! Aren’t you happy about that? I know I am. It’s so funny because , it’s so true what they say… “The grass is always greener on the other side.” We wait for summer to wear our cute outfits, sandals and hats. But then (especially here in Mumbai) the heat starts to get unbearable and all we want is for it to rain. Or is that just me? Anyway… Looks like that won’t be happening for another couple months or so. Getting to the point – Here are a few beauty products and perfumes / body mists I’ve been absolutely in love with this summer!ย

The first and my absolute favourite is this peel off mask that I bought when I went to Vietnam. Not going to lie, I was very hesitant about using it at first. I tested it on my hand and only after I found that it was safe did I use it on my face. Hahahha…. Don’t worry I’m not usually this fussy, it’s only because this product was extremely cheap. It was about 60 INR. YEP! I KNOW RIDICULOUS !!! But genuinely…. It’s one of the best Peel Off Masks I’ve ever used.

  • It smells heavenly. It has that strong citrus scent which is extremely appealing. Heck! I could just sniff it all day!
  • It has a nice strong grip, so when you peel it off it really gets all that gunk out of your face and neck, leaving your skin super soft and very visibly clean.
  • The only downside is I have no idea of where you can get it from besides Vietnam’s supermarkets. However, I will check some sites online and let you know if I do end up finding the product.

This next product was actually a birthday gift from a friend of mine and I absolutely love it! It’s the Victoria’s Secret PASSION STRUCK in the Fuji Apple and Vanilla Orchid scent. It smells just like the description says – very fruity, fresh and summery with a hint of a floral scent. It’s perfect travel size too, so great to pop into any handbag when you’re on-the-go.

These are my current favourites in makeup. I am completely aware that I’m no expert in this sector , but I am really loving these products and would like to share them with you.

  • Let’s start off with the INVEDA BB Cream. It reads, ” 8 in 1 Cream with Magnolia & Almond. SPF 20. Fair Colour. For All Skin Types. ” So it does have a light coverage for any blemishes, spots or lines plus it has SPF which is perfect for the summer time. While keeping your face looking flawless and spot free it also protects you from the sun. Also this is the kind of product wherein a little bit goes a long way. If you end up using too much your face will start to feel like it’s just been smothered with moisturiser which is never a good feeling on a hot day. I use it by itself in the day time but as a primer if I have an evening function or event.
  • Let’s move on to the MAYBELLINE NEW YORK Concealer. Great coverage and very easy to blend which is the most important thing in any makeup product. They have quite a wide range of shades to choose from as well so it’s very unlikely that there won’t be one that matches your skin tone perfectly. Also, it’s extremely reasonable price wise compared to some of the other brands and it does work just as well.
  • Lastly, the MAYBELLINE NEW YORK Clear Glow ALL IN ONE SHINE FREE CAKE POWDER. It does have an SPF OF 32 which is always a bonus. It says on the packaging that it lasts for 8 hours, but I haven’t worn it even close to that amount of time to let you know if it’s true. Doesn’t make your face look cakey for sure and if you’re one with oily skin like me you should give this a try.

I’ve saved the best of all for last. My boyfriend gave this to me for my birthday and I’m in love. It’s the ZARA WOMAN GOLD.ย I’m already the biggest Zara fan and this perfume doesn’t only look gorgeous but smells heavenly too. The packaging itself looks so elegant, classy and rich. This is a gift any woman/ girl would be delighted to receive. I know I was. It has a bit of a mature scent , not the kind that you would picture your grandmother with but , the kind a sexy flawless lady with pointy heels, a white buttoned down shirt and a black pencil skirt would be caught wearing. What can I say? It smells just like it looks – Classy, Elegant & Rich.

So these were all the products I’ve been loving this month and am now using extremely sparingly as I don’t want to run out. I’m curious to know what are some of your recent favourites? Let me know in the comments so I can get a hold of them and enjoy them too ๐Ÿ˜ƒ. Follow me to stay updated of when I upload new posts. Love you!

VIETNAM: Hochiminh City

Hey guys!

I’m finally back after a good two months. I recently went to Vietnam then got back and had my board exams. I’m done now at last and I cant wait to get back into the blog posting mood! And an insane trip to Vietnam just means super amazing blogs in the coming weeks! I’m so excited to tell you guys about my trip and I hope you enjoy reading it as well ๐Ÿ˜€

Ho-chi-minh City (the capital of Vietnam) was our first stop. At a first glance, that is the second I stepped out of the airport it gave me the Mumbai Vibe for some reason. That quickly changed the minute we got into the car and started moving. It’s a massive city with a population of 10 million, but I doubt you’re interested in the facts! The roads are incredibly wide and the streets are spotlessly clean! As for the weather – hot, but very bearable (I mean at least for those of us from Mumbai). Now that I’ve covered the basic details, let’s get into the fun stuff!

We had a personal tour guide which was quite necessary as almost NO ONE speaks English! Our tour guide was one hilarious lady! Very sweet as were all the Vietnamese people we came in contact with, but she was so crazy! By the end of our trip we got pretty annoyed with her! Hahaha…

On to the sightseeing :

We visited the Ben Thanh Market which is the main market in China Town. It’s  full of street vendors selling the local Vietnamese food, handicrafts and items for daily use. It’s a wholesale market so they don’t really cater to individual buyers. I did however buy myself a cap. In fact, it’s very much like our Crawford Market (an extremely clean version that is) .

9732e8b7-85d6-4f26-bed2-ac125dd0ff8b

We visited the Remnants Museum, which exhibits photographs,  machinery and weapons that depicts the harsh realities of the war. It was deeply moving reading the facts and kind of  in a way reliving their trials and suffering.

4f9044e9-7542-4598-8a4c-bcb5a5071b02f3c0a677-14e7-4d50-903e-e39f7ed5421e

Our visit to the Reunification Hall was honestly not the most exciting. Here, was where all their formal meetings were held, their private bedrooms and war rooms that are 10 meters underground. Pretty cool!

20165855-4a79-41c6-aef4-6f416b75c136
Underground Passage leading to the lake.

Some other sites that I wasn’t too intrigued by was the General Post Office,  The City Hall and the Opera House.

As for the shopping in Hochiminh it was very disappointing… Nothing like everyone says about Vietnam shopping , at least I didn’t think so – not in Hochiminh at least. And since this was the first place we came to I was getting a bit worried of not getting anything ๐Ÿ˜› (Typical first world problems, I know) even though I don’t live in a first world country, LOL! One of the most high end shopping places in Vietnam is the Vincom Centre with a huge selection of some of the top international brands in clothes, electronics and accessories and of course a massive food court!

We left for Hanoi on Sunday afternoon after hearing mass at the Notre Dame Cathedral. The structure is gorgeous and the inside is equally impressive, mass was so lovely (it was in English) and we met the sweetest old lady outside the church selling statues and rosaries. She was just so full of love and happiness – truly an inspiration to us all. The perfect end to the first leg of our journey.

I hope you enjoyed this post, I know there’s a lot of names and places I’ve visited but I thought this would be super helpful if you’re planning a trip to Vietnam. I would definitely recommend it. Also do share this with friends, family or anyone who is planning a trip. I love you all and thanks for sticking till the end.
